Meet Kristen
Kristen is a public policy advocate. She has worked in state level public policy for almost ten years. She advocates for improvements and oversight of health and human services programming, and her favorite policy area is the intersection between child welfare and Medicaid. She has helped to pass legislation that improves daycare access for working parents and improving burdensome licensure requirements to help individuals enter the workforce faster.

My Purpose is Faith, Family and Community
My husband, Chris, and I have been married for 10 years and we are raising our four children in the District. Weeknights you will find us at the ball field (I’m an assistant coach on our daughter’s competitive softball team in Waukee) or practicing in the backyard. As a former collegiate lacrosse player and coach, I work to instill values of personal responsibility and perseverance with my children and those I’ve had the honor to coach.
On Sundays, you will likely find us at St. Francis of Assisi where we are parishioners or at St. Boniface in Waukee. We raise our children to live their faith boldly and see the dignity in all people. We believe that strong families are the building blocks of a thriving society. We value our family time and love playing board games and having family movie nights – The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Harry Potter are some of our favorites.
I enjoy being involved in the Waukee school district, and actively contribute to the Waukee School Improvement Advisory Committee – SIAC (appointed in 2021), providing public policy recommendations at the administrative and school board levels, and working with our local elementary school’s diversity and inclusion team. I believe that strong communities and schools are also an important part of a thriving society, and the only way you can make change is to be involved.
Please reach out if you would like to know more about any legislation I have worked on in the past and if we can find a public policy solution to address an issue or concern you may have. My door is always open to discuss any concerns you may have.
